About Charis Park
Charis Park is the latest initiative by Sunset Ridge Collective, a community-focused organization rooted in the mission of Sunset Ridge Church. Our goal is to create a space that fosters the flourishing of our neighborhood, and Charis Park embodies this vision perfectly. Once an unused one-acre parking lot, this area has been transformed into a vibrant green space where neighbors of all ages can gather, eat, play, and rest.
What To Expect
Charis Park was designed with accessibility at the forefront, ensuring that everyone in our community can enjoy its many features. The park’s circular walkway is wheelchair accessible, connecting various areas for gathering, relaxation, and play. We’ve made sure that every part of the park, from the seating under the main pavilion to the custom-built community table, is easily accessible for all visitors.
For those looking to enjoy a meal, One Another Coffee—a coffee trailer owned and operated by Sunset Ridge Collective near the sidewalk of the campus on Brees - donates all proceeds supporting the park’s creation and maintenance. Scott’s Pizza trailer lives in Charis Park and offers delicious lunch and dinner options.
The park also includes outdoor games, interactive art made from repurposed tree trunks, and a meditation garden with a green labyrinth and quiet areas to sit and reflect. We’ve partnered with Coral Studio, landscape architects known for their commitment to environmental stewardship. Their innovative design includes native plants, a pollinator garden, a rain garden to capture runoff water, and the reuse of existing site materials to reduce waste.
